About Ring Snap

Ring Snap is a pure timing test. In the centre of the screen is a circle with a pale outline. A larger yellow ring closes in on it. Your only job is to tap at the moment the two line up.

How it works

There are three possible results. If the ring is almost exactly on the outline, it is a perfect snap, worth three points. If it is close, within a slightly wider margin, you get one. Anything else is a miss. Letting the ring shrink past the circle without tapping also counts as a miss.

You have three lives, shown as hearts.

After each successful snap the ring speeds up a little, and the next ring starts from a slightly different size each time. That second detail matters: you cannot simply count a fixed beat from one ring to the next.

Playing it well

Watch the gap, not the ring. Keep your eyes on the space between the ring and the outline and tap as it disappears.

Tap a hair early. There is always a small delay between deciding and touching, and at higher speeds the ring moves a long way in that time. If you keep getting "Good" when you expected "Perfect", you are almost certainly late.

Do not tense up for the perfect. A run of steady one-point snaps keeps your lives intact. Going for three every time and missing costs far more than it gains.

Reset after a miss. The next ring begins straight away, and a rushed tap out of frustration is how one miss turns into two.

Thirty points is a strong round. As single-tap HTML5 games go, it is a clean measure of your sense of timing.
